Come to the fair to try some of the best meat!

We are excited about bringing this opportunity back to the Sioux County Fair! If you are looking to come and try some great food, tasting and judging will start at 1:00pm. To enter the tent the cost will be $10 per adult, $5 kids under 18, 2 year olds and under are free.
If you are interested in competing in the event click on the buttons below for more information. There is a $20 entry fee. Fee will be returned the day of the contest. If you do not particiate your entry fee becomes a donation. Each team is in charge of their own booth, table will be provided for final judging display. Provide 1 oz. samples for approx. 250 people. We will have a panel of judges to determine the winners. Set up can be at anytime. Please submit your entry by June 15 to reserve your spot!
Farm Bureau’s cookout contest is open to any Iowa resident age 13 years or older. Farm Bureau or affiliated company employees are not eligible.
Contestants can compete in one of the following six categories: beef, pork, lamb, poultry, turkey or combo/specialty. Combo is a recipe combining two or more meats from the eligible meat categories. Specialty includes IOWA domestically raised meats including venison, goat and fish etc. excluding wild game.
A Cookout Champion will be named and awards will be given to winners in each cooking category. Special recognition will also go to winners of the showmanship, youth and team cooking categories.
The county contest will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 1:00p.m. on the Sioux County Ag Expo grounds. Contestants can begin cooking at any time, but all food must be cooked on the grounds to qualify. Judging will be held at 1pm.
The Cookout Grand Champion, will have the chance to compete in the state finals at the Iowa State Fair.
